Alabama Wins Again

Alabama wins again, and wins big.

Taylor Hicks is the newest Alabama celebrity. He was voted American Idol last week. That's after Rueben Studdard winning two years ago, then Bo Bice coming in second last year (both Alabama natives). What's up Bama? We rock.

I'm very proud of Taylor Hicks and the Soul Patrol. I was pulling for him from the beginning. I hope his first album is a hit. And can't wait to start hearing more tunes from him. Taylor good luck on your new Star Status! Woo-hoo-Soul Patrol.

Inspiration

This is titled inspiration because of this young gentleman I met last week.
It is probably one of the most inspirational stories I've ever covered.
Meet Andrew Joseph Snitko-he's better known as A.J.
Last week he graduated from Bob Jones High School.
See Andrew didn't just get a diploma he walked across the stage to get it.
A.J. was born with a mild form of Cerebral Palsy. When he was 8 a rare nueromuscular movment disorder called Dystonia took over his body. After a number of surgeries to ease some of A.J.'s pain from the muscles spasms the disorder causes-A.J.'s goal was to walk at his graduation.
A.J. got a standing ovation from his class. It was truely moving to see him walk across the stage. He was so happy and so was his family. They are great people. A.J. is planning on going to college at U.A.H., he'll be studying Bio-Medical Engineering. A.J. plans to walk across the stage to get his degree-but without help from his walker.
GO A.J.! You're an awesome person. So glad I was able to meet you-you're such an inspiration. P.S. A.J.'s favorite team is the Greenbay Packers....

Weather, Weather, Weather and Some More...

Here's a picture after Tuesday's storm's in North Alabama. It's the calm after the storm. But guess what that sunshine yesterday has not ended the storms. We are expecting another round of storms today. And that means I'll be out in the elements. It's not all bad-as long as you have the proper weather clothing. I personally like Hurricanes better than tornados. So why all of you are taking cover, we'll be running out to let you know how it all looks. Hopefully, I can catch a few good shots with my camera phone to put on here. Happy storm chasing.

Animals

I've written blogs before about my exciting animal world. Well today is another one that will go down in the books.
If you look closely-that's a goat standing behind me. We were knocking on doors today trying to get interviews for a story, and low and behold a goat walks up on me. Crazy! These are just some of the things reporters run up on while out trying to get the story. Everday is different, but that is why I love my job. Sorry about the face-Goats smell funny.
Also today, we went to another house and they had six pigs. Very cool-they were large pigs. It was an animaltastic day!!!

Nascar

Well my friends I went to Talladega-that's pronoucned Diga-yesterday for the Nascar race. Unfortunately, it was rained out. We did get to see 2 warm up laps. Then the rain moved right on in just like Dan said it would. We had great seats but no race. I was really looking forward to having tire in my face and the wind slapping me from the cars circling around. Oh, well maybe next year or October.
They raced this morning-Jimmy Johnson wins the race.
