The Evolution of Robin Thicke

It's been a couple of days since my last post. Here's something fun. I've purchased some new music. Who knew Alan Thicke's son would be belting out some tunes....how funny. I love it though. Robin Thicke is awesome.

I'm really enjoying his cd. The Evolution of Robin Thicke is very smooth. You can find it in the R&B section or the top ten selling albums section of music stores right now.

O.k. for everyone who didn't watch Growing Pains growing up in the 80's Alan Thicke was the dad on the show. I loved that show.
This album has a little bit of everything. Slow R&B rhythms, with some upbeat raps. He opens up the cd with a guest vocal performance with Faith Evans. Then he has several other guest artist on the c-d like Pharell, producer of the album.
So if you're wondering who that guy is singing that ballad Lost Without You on the radio that's Robin Thicke.
Check it out. I like it.
My next purchase....I'm going to check out Amy Winehouse. Claire Aiello's husband recommended this one. I sampled it on-line the other night sounds interesting.....if you've heard it let me know what you think..

Funny Friday Story!

My yoga instructor shared this story with the class the other night. It was so hilarious I thought I would share it with yall. With her permission of course.

First of all, Tasha and I share a few things in common music and dance. So I loved this story.

Tasha, said when her mom was pregnant with her, she jumped on top of Al Green's limo. Then her mom touched Al Green. After that Tasha said her mom would not touch her father for 3 weeks after touching Al Green. So now Tasha has this weird fascination with Al Green music.

It's a short and sweet story, but it's funny.
Keep spinning those Al Green records Tasha. He's on tour now in the UK...there's a chance you can jump on his limo just like your momma did. Go ahead girl.

Kentucky Basketball Is Changing

This just in, the University of Kentucky is searching for a basketball coach. Tubby Smith is heading to the University of Minnesota and my in laws are breathing a sigh of relief. Kevin and his family love Kentucky basketball. The news of Tubby leaving is big news tonight.
I am happy to say Kevin will be a guest blogger on my blog later to explain all this sports stuff for us. Of course, because he is the expert. I am excited too. I'm hoping to watch exciting Kentucky basketball again.
I wonder who the new coach will be????

Spring!

Spring is here! It's just a little cold this weekend. These are my buttercups in the backyard. Obviously, I didn't plant enough. I'm still waiting on the tulips to bloom that I planted.
I go out and check them everyday and every afternoon. I'm a little impatient. I can't wait until the roses start to bloom. I'll post some pictures of those when they get ready.
Just thought I'd share this picture with you.
Have a great weekend.

A Mother's Wish

Taking Action and Getting Results- this story is what it's all about. Wanda Watkins, the woman in the photo below, called our Newschannel 19 Taking Action line because her Mother has lung and liver cancer. Her Mother Ruth Goble wanted to go to the Harlem Globetrotters game. I answered that phone call last week and got to work.
I, with the help of our sales department- got 10 tickets for Ruth and her family to go to the game.
Our viewers also poured out their hearts. Loops of Love crocheted hats for Ruth to wear to the game. Shipps Baptist Church donated a gospel tour bus for transportation for a ride from Albertville to Huntsville. Plus, plenty of more goodies. Unfortunately, as the time neared for the game Ruth's health weakened.

I am sad to report Ruth's wish didn't come true she did not get to go to the Harlem Globetrotter's game last night. She refused to let the tickets go to waste. Ruth insisted that her grandkids go ahead to the game without her.
Ruth spent the night in the hospital and is still in the hospital today.
While at the game her family got to meet the Harlem Globetrotters and get basketballs and t-shirts autograhped by the players.
Since Ruth couldn't make it to the game I asked the players to get together and tape a special message for Ruth. We are taking that to her today in her hospital room.
This story has been a very special one for me. I've been on the phone with the family pretty much everyday checking up on Ruth's health. This family is precious. They are kind and in need our prayers.

The family enjoyed the game and did their best to put on a happy face without Ruth there by their side. I can't wait to see Ruth this morning. We are on our way.

This picture is just one more example of how thoughtful this family is to me. They gave this necklace to me to say thank you. It has my name on a heart with an angel attached to it. It's a gift I'll hold dear to my heart.
Please keep Ruth Goble in prayers.

Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama

The Boys & Girls Club of Huntsville Madison County and Athens Limestone County have merged into one now and will be called the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama. It's to help the club grow.
Today, I also got sworn in as a board of director member. I will help raise money for the club of North Alabama and help set policy among many other duties.
I feel very passionate about the Boys and Girls Club because I volunteered for clubs in Decatur, AL in high school. Everytime I step foot in a club while doing a story I think to myself what can I do to get involved. So I asked the president Cederick Williams and he told me, "Amber I'll send you some information and we will put you to work." So here I am. I'm so happy to be a part of the group once again. I can't wait to get started. I love the kids at the clubs. Each and every one of them are so special.
If any of you have ideas for fundraisers send them my way through e-mail at amber.stuart@whnt.com or on my comments section here on this blog. Or if you want to get involved let me know and we'll put you to work!!!

Robert Randolph & The Family Band

Coming soon... a blog review of a new jewel of tunes put in my hands. The band Robert Randolph & The Family Band. These guys rock. You've got to check them out. I know I'm a little behind on this band. They have a few cds out there, but a copy of "Colorblind" just passed my hands. I love it. I'll write more on them later. Just wanted to drop a line on them.

Taylor Hicks Concert

Taylor Hicks, Taylor Hicks, Taylor Hicks-wiggle those hips. O.k. if you're looking for a bad review of the concert on this blog look the other way. I thought the concert was fabulous. Of course, I've seen Taylor perform on television, but never live and what a treat indeed. Thanks Taylor. My husband, father and I sat about six rows from the front.
The night kicked off upbeat with Taylor banging away on a Tambourine. A small instrument he constantly played throughout the night as he danced around the stage. Taylor told me during our afternoon interview it would be a 90 minute aerobic workout-no doubt, it was the soul patrol work out I expected.
Taylor and his band played all of my favorite songs from his self titled debut album. Plus, a few extras from his favorite bands.

After seeing Taylor perform live on stage I can see that is definitely where he belongs. Taylor is a performer at heart and was born to be on the stage. I've never seen energy like his on the stage and it's contagious like no other.
So I learned some things about him during the performance. I already knew Taylor could play the harmonica, I didn't know the boy could play the guitar and bass-Yea, he can jam...he's jamming with his guitarist in the picture in the top right. Woo...I'm telling ya this man is talented. He is something to see.
Taylor's voice of course was sultry and warm especially as he sang his single that just hit radio airwaves, Just to Feel That Way.
In a nutshell, I loved the concert that 2,100 people attended at the VBC Concert Hall in Huntsville. Hey, I even bought a Taylor Hicks T-Shirt. I couldn't resist.

One more thing. I couldn't get a picture of this, but Taylor did wear his black New Balance tennis shoes during the concert. He told me they are his "stage shoes these days." Taylor still considers his cowbody boots his "house shoes."

Taylor has upcoming events in Alabama this weekend.
He'll be in Birmingham signing autographs at Laser's Edge CD Store from 2-5 pm Saturday, March 10th. That's at 2825 18th Street, Birmingham. After he receives the key to the city at 12:30.

Interviewing Taylor

Here's a quick shot of Taylor and me from this afternoon's interview. The interview was awesome. We streamed the entire interview on whnt.com, so you've got to check it out. I'll write more about it later.

Here's a link to my story.

I'm about to go get ready for the concert. I'll have a full review of the concert coming up!!!

Soul Patrol!!!! Go Taylor!

Softball Saturday

That's my oh so cool Sissy Caitlin in her super sassy
softball uniform for the season. Yea. We spent the Saturday watching her play softball. I must say I give the uniforms a 10. The team did great they won 2 out 3 games. Today's games were the first for the season. So good games girls!

This is a picture of the family dining after the games in Athens at the Catfish Cabin. Yummy! Yes, Kevin I know we are not on a cruise, but it's still fun to take family pictures....

This is Caitlin looking very tough at second base her position.

Let me tell you it was very cold today. No my Mom and Grandmother are not that afraid of the Paparazzi coming to get them they are really just that cold.
Caitlin's cheering post is made up of my cousin Jake front left, Mom Sonja, Grandmother Elaine, Dad Mark front left, Grandfather John and Husband Kevin-I took the picture obviously.
My favorite play of the day----Caitlin caught a fly ball and made the third out of a very long inning. It didn't seem like it would ever end. Way to save the day Baby girl.

Deadly Twisters

The Enterprise tornadoes are so sad. When I heard the news yesterday I just had to pause for a moment. It's always hard for me when I hear about students being killed in accidents be it storms or whatever.

The next thing I thought of was my friend Robert O'Shields. He is a reporter at WAKA in Montgomery (the station I worked for before WHNT). Robert is from Enterprise and his mom still lives there. When I finally talked to him he was very shocked at everything he'd seen. Robert graduated from the high school the tornado hit. He called me back when he finally left the scene. He told me it was very hard because he knew some of the students who were killed in the storm, that he'd grown up with some of them in church. Plus, the teachers who are injured.
These are those stories that are hard to report on and hard to put our feelings on the back burner because of the emotions. Especially, for reporters like Robert who are so connected to the story. So Robert I'm praying for you and everyone involved in these devastating tornadoes.
