Chocolate Heaven!!!

On Cole's last day of summer break we decided to go on an adventure. We headed to Main Street in Madison, Alabama to Whistle Stop Sweet Shop.
The boys ate homemade chocolate covered caramels.
Cole's favorite a big ole' marshmallow dipped in chocolate!
Store owner, Lynn Crumbly, says she got the idea for the sweet shop in high school. Her friend's mom in Caves Springs, GA owned a fudge shop. Crumbly's first candy business started in Arab in 1995. She has been serving the sweet tooth on Main Street in Madison since November 2012.
All the chocolates and fudge are homemade. They also serve Gelatos that are from Michigan made by a family there. Plus, jar candy which is the first thing the boys ran for!! Of course!!
A favorite for the boys! That had nothing to do with sugar. The train hanging from the ceiling. A kids paradise! And grown ups too!
If you are in the area stop! If you are not drive over! It's worth it!! Such a cute place to visit!!
They are closed on Sunday's and Monday's.

Out of Retirement!

So I jokingly call myself a reporter on a break. Once a reporter always a reporter.
I thought I would share some work I recently did. A commercial for MarMac Real Estate.

Hope you enjoy!!

Mom

My Mother has early onset Alzheimer's. Last week my sister and I decided to share our story on WAFF. In the hopes of raising awareness of the disease. So that maybe others can help their loved ones.
Here's a link to the story.
Wednesday, Mom celebrated her 59 birthday.
So glad we were able to celebrate her life. She has been living in memory care since November 2013. It hasn't been easy. In the last few weeks she has started laughing again.
Last night we celebrated Mexican style! She loves Mexican food and cookies.
While I have been told she is in a rapid decline I am trying to enjoy the best of her right now. She smiles a lot.
I tell my children they are the sunshine of her eyes. When the kids run in the room she lights up.
Everyday #hopingforacureforalzheimer's!

Biking

I have been riding my bicycle since December. Today is the first time the beast of a hill leaving our neighborhood didn't completely kill me.
I enjoy riding my bike for a peace of mind. If I lose weight during my rides then great!! The first time I hit the streets I realized what it did for my mind.
Today I increased my route. Along the way my 18 month old and I enjoyed God's beauty! Spring flowers in bloom. They smelled so good. Listening to the birds. It's just a time to thank the Lord for all he has done!
Any time we get a chance I take our oldest along with me on the route.
We love to ride together. It's good bonding time! I enjoy seeing him ride. Can't believe he's big enough to actually ride on streets. Life never slows down though.
Happy trails!

Another Day! Another Mess!

So we have a lot of messes everyday! I only take pictures of the ones I feel worthy of the shots!
This happened today while I was driving. Big Brother Cole shared a pack of Rolos with Cannon.
I heard the snickering and thought nothing of it. They laugh at each other all the time. Plus! They were not fighting!!
Then Cole shouted Mom!! I looked in the rear view mirror and saw the little baby hand covered in chocolate. Still didn't think a thing about it.
Pulled into the garage got out of the van. Opened the door gasped!!!! Oh dear!!! Chocolate from head to toe!!! In every crevice of the car seat. Oh the joys of brothers. They had a blast!! And thank God for the person who invented stain stick. I will need it.
Each day I meet these little obstacles I laugh instead of scream. And a little more of me becomes more laid back.
Have I mentioned I am keeping baby wipes makers in stock and I need a better vacuum cleaner!! Would not trade it for the world.

Palm Sunday

What a beautiful day for Palm Sunday. A wonderful sermon followed by a covered dish lunch. Then a visit from the Easter bunny and an egg hunt.
Of course Cannon was fascinated with the big ole' bunny.

A little closer...
Maybe throwing some eggs will help!!
I think the bunny told him in this picture no chocolate in your eggs. Or maybe he said you really are a little Cannon.
So let's get Brother Cole in the picture see if that helps.
Bunny!! Bunny!
And....
Are you kidding me??? Don't you remember Christmas mom?? I hate these things!!

The egghunt was a success!
Enjoy the week! As we prepare to celebrate Easter!!

Ever Have One of These Days??

It started like this....
Delicious permanent markers for breakfast! How you ask? My oldest son, Cole, made a poster yesterday. Left the markers out and his Big League chewing gum. So the gum was the next thing Cannon ate!
Then we finally made it on our bike ride. I go inside to get a nice big drink of water. Return outside to this....
They are just eating the marshmallows out of the cereal. Thought this was the stick a fork in me moment!!!
Nope!!
He finally napped after this picture!!
The day is not done!! Have a good one!

Chattanooga Spring Break 2015

We packed as much as we could into three days. Chattanooga Zoo,

Children's Discovery Museum,
 Ruby Falls
and the Chattanooga Aquarium.
During our slow
time we walked beautiful downtown Chattanooga.
Skipped naps!

Was it worth it? Yes! Every single minute! I heard a sermon once. Making memories with your family is the most important thing you can do! Fun memories.
I pray that is what we provided our children this weekend. A fun weekend filled with memories they will cherish.

I know Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the weekend and can't wait to explore the next spot!
And that's a wrap! Those are our traveling buddies. Maybe we packed too much into this trip. 😜
