The Rick and Bubba Show Is Moving

The Rick and Bubba Show is switching homes on the airwaves in Huntsville, but not without a little backlash from their current one Rocket 95.1.
Ouch, Rocket 95.1 has a negative spot running on their air and a mean ad on their webpage. Why? Because the boys are going to 100.3 January 2, 2008.
The Rocket pulled the show off the air Wednesday morning when listeners started calling in to the show and asking about the negative campaign against the boys.
I did a story about the switch today and all the negativity. I offered the Rocket time and time again to go on camera with me to explain themselves unfortunately-that never happened. Watch the video here.
You may or may not hear Rick and Bubba again in Huntsville until January 2, 2008 on 100.3 The River. My best advice go to http://www.rickandbubba.com/ to hear the show.

Funny how you left off that you were an intern at the Rick and Bubba Show in your slanted report. You also left out the part about them leaving the radio station that helped them get to where they are today. Or how about a little history about how they started out in Huntsville at WBHP-AM 9 or 10 years ago, and how WBHP dropped them because nobody was listening, and it was the Rocket that put their faith into their show and helped them get the fame and glory they have today. Where was that in your report?
Don't you think that the Rocket didn't answer your phone call because they were busy answering the phones from all of the concerned listeners? Or how about this, the people in charge of answering your questions knew that you used to be an intern on the Rick and Bubba show and they knew that no matter what they said, you would have portrayed Rick and Bubba as the helpless radio hosts that were taken advantage of anyway.
Why is Rick and Bubba so important to Channel 19 anyway? What about Dan and Dingo? John Boy and Billy? Mojo? I don't recall seeing any of those morning shows on Channel 19. How about Mojo's Bikes or Bust? A fund raiser for children, was there a report on that since you are so involved with the children of North Alabama?
Next time, try writing an unbiased story...might actually help your integrity.

Hey, here's a news flash, if they would turn their back on the Rocket, I wonder what they would do to their friends? Did you think about that when they called and asked you to run that slanted story?

Newsflash anonymous- I never interned for the Rick and Bubba Show. I interned for NewsChannel 19in the summer of 2000.
No one from the Rick and Bubba Show asked me to do the story. I just thought it was newsworthy to let our viewers know why they were hearing a nasty ad about a classy show.
And by the way we did cover Mojo's Bikes or Bust. I think he does the children of Tennessee Valley a great service every holiday season. We cover his event from the time he goes up on the crane until he comes down. Sorry you missed our coverage.
But I do appreciate your comment. I welcome all comments.

Sounds like to me that "anonymous" is an employee of the Rocket and is upset because he just realized that he lost a great money maker.

Talk about integrity! What about the Rocket keeping their contract with the show?

Looks like if you and your Rocket staff want to talk about integrity, let it start at your station before you begin throwing terms like that around towards someone else.

Well former Rocket supporter- The Rocket is still paying Rick and Bubba through January and they could have pulled them October 1st when Rick and Bubba called to drop the Show! So just talk about stuff you know about please!

And to Amber- You have to admit your story was slanted do to the fact that you do have a relationship with Rick and Bubba! And your story was not factual! Rocket didn't not have to play the show, just play the commercials and pay Rick and Bubba. Which is exactly what they are doing. They were pulled them only when Rick and Bubba tried to put their spin in it to save some face! The spot that ran on the Rocket was not negative just the truth of how it all went down and the Rocket's opinion on how they felt Rick and Bubba left them for money. They said to grow their business! They are already in T-Town and Nashville! They just gained Panama City! Sounds like a vacation deal instead of a radio deal! I can understand it. The more kids Rick has, the more help he needs to go on vacation!

Sure most people go for money to expand their business! But most people handle business wrong and they did!

Was your story your opinion or was that a poor try at good unbiased
news coverage?

Taking shots at people for your own personal agenda, that really doesn't involve you is not good reporting! Rick and Bubba and the Rocket can duke it out like men in January! 19 has a fight of its own and it sure isn't radio!!!

I think you are a good reporter, and you have done some great work. Just on this one the Rocket didn't have to comment. And you didn't have to have an agenda!

You paying Rick and Bubba does your FORMER listeners no good now does it. So your interest is NOT in what listeners want its just how you can stick it to somebody....that's a great business plan!!!! You should do well from here on with that mentality.

All I can say is - Get ready to watch your ratings FAAAALLLLL because Rick and Bubba was the only thing on your station worth listening to.

Yes, the Rocket could have stopped running their show at any time. But why would they do that and risk losing advertisers that only buy ad time during Rick and Bubba?

The negative commercial that the Rocket ran was nothing but bitterness of being dropped by a highly rated morning show. If they truly felt wronged, they would have done an interview with 19 if they asked. If only to tell their side of the story.

Rick and Bubba and the Rocket no longer work well together. The rocket has become more and more crude and blue, which turns off a typical Rick and Bubba listener. I imagine that above all, they didn't want to be accociated with a station that becomes basicly R rated after 10am. The two no longer fit.

The Rocket is bitter.

There was a very nice story in todays Huntsville Times on WRTT's new morning show "The Fish"...The big thing about 95.1's The FISH, is that the new morning show will now be LOCAL..."Rod Harder will do the show here for two weeks and than do it from Daytona!!"...as Letterman would say WHAT!!...also notice Lee Reynolds said Rick and Bubba haven't made a appearance here since last November...shows you there is to much pot smoking going on at the Rocket or Reynolds is full of it...Rick and Bubba OPEN their book tour in Huntsville on May 30, 2007!!...Okay, what about John Boy & Billy, and when was their last appearance in Huntsville...Oh yeah, they NEVER been here!!

WOW, as big as you all are making it, you would think more people would make comments!

Rocket will do fine, and Rick and Bubba will do fine!

For all of the Rocket haters on here or 19 or Clear Channel employees who blog with themselves on here Rocket has kicked major butt outside of Rick and Bubba! The ratings go all day and night!!!

I was just shocked that WHNT plugged a radio station that was a competitor of their radio partner
Lite 96.9! Classy move there too!
